In honor of the Motion Picture Editors Guild’s 75th anniversary year, as well as to acknowledge the imminent 84th Academy Awards ceremony set for February 26, 2012, CineMontage looks at the legacy of the Oscars, from the post-production perspective.  In the following articles you will find the complete lists of Film Editing, Sound Editing and Sound Mixing Oscar winners to date, recipients of the archaic Special Effects (Sound/Audible category, a tally of multiple award winners, Oscar’s women, and mini-profiles of some of the pioneering post-production winners.)

In addition, in a category we created ourselves — Oscars That Should Have Been — we chose a dozen or so Film Editing and Sound Oscar-worthy craftsmen and woman throughout the history of the awards who were overlooked for the honor, and offer explanations as to why they had deserved to win.
